Reasonable Accommodations

The Times has an excellent article with links to important information regarding rules and regulations if you suffer a chronic illness, such as a major mental illness or substance use disorder, and protecting your job.  They include a phone number for information on what type of accommodations might be considered "reasonable" which your employer should agree to. An attorney with the Legal Action Center once told me that getting a reasonable amount of time off to see your therapist if you have a major mental illness (bi-polar, major depression) even if managed with medication is a reasonable accommodation. Also attending an AA meeting weekly if you're in recovery is considered another reasonable acommodation, but don't expect to get 3 hours off to do so, 90 mins is probably more like it, maybe more if you attach it to a lunch hour.
